The Saturday Parent Academy (SPA) is an innovative program specifically designed for parents of students who have not passed the FCAT or are currently in FCAT reading classes.

     The main objective of the program is to:

• Provide information to the parents about the necessary skills their children require in order to pass the FCAT.

     In order to accomplish this, parents will receive valuable information on understanding the FCAT: what the test is about, their child’s score, the impact of the score on their child, etc. They will also be informed of their child’s academic improvement plan, and ways in which they can help their child succeed. Parents will also be given opportunities to familiarize themselves with the content and test formats on the FCAT by taking sample tests.

     Parents are not required to have an exceptional knowledge of the English language. Translators are provided by the Spanish National Honor Society. The members of the SNHS wish to help their community in any way possible.
